ABOUT THE COMPANY

The Sun Apparatus is a multinational, all-female, devising theatre company which formed in Spring 2013 at The Royal Central School of Speech & Drama in London. The company's core members, Dana Etgar, Justina Kaminskaitė, Sarah Kenney, and Katherine Vince, combine their diverse backgrounds, talents, and life experiences to create image-led work that illuminates and critiques both the personal and political. Their aim is to challenge the mundane and play with the absurdities of life.

FOUNDING COMPANY MEMBERS

DANA ETGAR is an Israeli theatre director, performer, teacher and playwright.  She received her MA in Advanced Theatre Practice from RCSSD and her BA in Directing and Teaching Theatre from Seminar Hakibuzim College in Israel.  Dana teaches drama to high school students and directs theatre and performance in Tel Aviv and Haifa.  She won the Dov Grofender Award for Young Writers in 2012.  Dana is dedicated to creating new performance work that tackles the personal and the political. www.danaetgar.com

 

JUSTINA KAMINSKAITĖ is a Lithuanian theatre practitioner, singer and songwriter with interests in creative entrepreneurship and movement practices. Her creative practice includes directing and performing in musical theatre, interdisciplinary collaborations, puppetry, music and dance. In her future work, Justina would like to explore the links between movement and sound and their effects on consciousness. She holds a BA in Musical Theatre from Vilnius College, BA (Hons) in Biology from Vilnius University and MA in Advanced Theatre Practice from RCSSD. Justina recently took part in BalticLab 3.0 for young creative entrepreneurs. www.justinakaminskaite.lt

 

SARAH CHENOWETH trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School prior to receiving her MA in Advanced Theatre Practice from RCSSD. She received her BA in Classics from Harvard University and trained at School of American Ballet and Ballet Academy East in NYC. Theatre credits include Café le Monde (Columbia Stages), The Rover, After the Dance, The Seagull (BOVTS).  Directing credits include An Oresteia (assistant director and dramaturge, Classic Stage Company), The Tempest (Harvard Loeb Mainstage), American Grace: Dance in the 20th Century (Harvard Loeb Mainstage).  In her spare time, she teaches Latin. www.sarahchenowethkenney.com

 

KATHERINE VINCE is a performer, producer and dancer. Since completing her MA in Advanced Theatre Practice (Distinction) at RCSSD, she has prioritised creating performances that explore social and cultural issues through comedy and physical theatre. Katherine received a First Class Honours Degree in Drama and Media, Culture & Society from The University of Birmingham.  Recent theatre credits include her solo shows Balancing Acts (Vault Festival, Camden People’s Theatre) and I Got Dressed In Front Of My Nephew Today (Vault Festival, ZOO at Edinburgh Fringe 2015, Camden People’s Theatre) by Feral Foxy Ladies.  Katherine teaches Devised Performance at The University of East Anglia. www.katherinevince.co.uk
